Dalsebostugan

The cottage at the original place,  the village Dalsebo

DALSEBOSTUGAN

This peasant´s cottage of two stories comes from the village of Dalsebo in Vena. It was probably built in the middle of the 19th century and was one of the oldest in that village. It was the farm-house of a bigger estate in Dalsebo. A farmer at that time often wanted to build ”big”, if he could afford it.

It was mainly the ground floor which was used. The open fireplace had to manage the heating. In the kitchen there has been a real iron range, a great improvement in the farmer´s kitchen.

On the first floor there was a big room used at weekends, parties and other festivities, a so called ”party-story”. The maids and the farmer-hands of the farm probably had their homes in other cottages.
